About Arun HPCC
This cluster is named after Professor Arun Kumar Basak. Professor Arun Basak is one of the best-known academics of the University of Rajshahi. Apart from being an eminent nuclear physicist, he has played a pioneering role in the provision and utilisations of computational facilities at Rajshahi, as well at the Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Sylhet. He has been a true leader, inspiring generations of scientists to work harder and to contribute to institutional and national capacity-building. He is now Professor Emeritus in the Department of Physics, University of Rajshahi. "Arun" in Bangla also means "sun" which symbolises great power and energy.
